| Thu Apr 26, 2007 4:41 pm How do you juggle more than one home based business? |
|
|
for those of you who are pros at this, do you find you can equally manage your time and be able to work all of your businesses or do you think it's a good idea to just focus entirely on one company to be successful?
I am very new to this WAH stuff, and it seems I want to try everything out so that I can find something that is just right for me.
Anyone else go thru something similar?

| This topic will get different responses, but for me I am happy building my current business, but I am also looking for something to add to what I am doing. Its not because I am not happy, but I like multiple streams of income.I am looking into different health and wellness companies but havent decided on anything yet.I think that starting two new home businesses at the same time is rough,I think (and this is just my opinion)that you should be comfortable and happy lol with your current biz before trying to start another. Its tough trust me I tried it before :( Failed miserably! But what is good for one person isnt exactly good for another. |

my actual businesses are Giggles and Smiles and Hair Bow Supplies they kinda go hand in hand so its not that tough at this point. Then I own several sites that are more of a hobby then businesses right now although I do make money from them so who knows.
I have heard that its best to focus on one thing untill it gets going then add something to it. |

I agree that it is tough starting more than one business at a time. With my 3 websites and my blog...I started WAH Opps a couple of years ago, then started Real WAH Jobs back in June of last year, then Cookin At Home in the beginning of this year and my blog just a short while ago.
I admit, it's hard keeping all of them updated. ;)
Especially when you have issues to deal with at home.
So...my advice is concentrate on starting one business at a time. :)
But everyone is different, and I know lots of people that have been successful with multiple businesses. It will depend on your commitments at home as well. |

| I agree with both of you...I think that sometimes life gets in the way and we are not able to build as much as we want to.Homelife definetly has alot to do with it.I am finding that out. When I first started my home business..my very first one I was not online at all and built that business(Herbalife)into a very nice business...in fact I was able to replace one of our incomes, well seemed like suddenly I got pregnant and wasnt able to devote as much time to it,so the business started slipping and eventually I gave it up.I still order products when I can but I realized that I would not be able to keep working it. I now do the candle biz and am taking my time building it.I love it and will never give it up,LOL. |

Thanks for the great advice girls.
I actually concentrate on the candle biz. I used to be a makeup artist and worked the whole crazy retail scene for years. I had thought I wanted to do a makeup artistry type business on the side which is why I signed up with the amm company. As you can see I am very undecided as to what I want to do. I really enjoy the candles, so I know I will stick with that. Maybe that is what I should do for the summer, just focus on the one biz. thanks so much girls!!

I've gone round and round with this question myself. I started a few businesses in the last 2 years looking for the perfect fit. I hadn't found one business that I could really pour myself into and focus on. There were great things about each company, but definately the party plan is not for me. So I thought I'd build a website with several affiliate links and am still working on trying to generate some income from it.
Some days I wonder if I'm not cut out for this and want to throw in the towel, but I still need to make $$ so I keep plugging away, lol. |

| Even though I'm a rep with several companies, I've found that I can work 2 effectively. I think it really depends on how focused you are. Some people can juggle many businesses at once, others can really only concentrate on one. I also found that it depends on how passionate you are about the companies you rep for. The ones you like the best are the ones you're going to focus on. |

| I rep for four different companies. At the moment I am focusing on two. My candle biz will be number one priority and my stuffing biz will be number two. I know that there is a way to work all of them, but I just haven't figured it out just yet. But as far as customers go- I have four different options for them! |

| This topic has me thinking.... I may downsize to just 2 companies since I haven't really made any $$ yet with the companies I have now. Is there just one company out there for me that I can actually make money and love, love, love the products? Products I love, candles and bath & body products, but I'm really picky about what I like and want. Ok, just thinking out loud here. |
