My oldest son has add and has had a really tough time with math and language arts this year. He's to the point where he's almost given up and I feel so bad for him. He really trys hard but it seems that he just is'nt motivated. I would love to hear from anyone else who has a child with this disorder and what you find is helping.
thanks so much!

I am sorry he is having a difficult time,is there maybe a summer school that he can go to or get a tutor for part of the summer? My daughter is autistic and we will have to have one of the teachers come out to our home once a week to do activities with her.We are going to do what we can as far as doing the same activities that she is doing in her preschool class.

Hi Ashley,
I have found that there's not too much avaible thru our school due to budget cuts, but there is always looking into a place like Sylvan. They are costly, but I want to do whatever I can to help him. His biggest problem is organization. The teachers suggest him using individual folders for each subject, but he's not having much luck with it. I am really working with him this last marking period and keeping my fingers crossed that he at least passes math for the year. I have been doing alot of research on some other options available to help him, but nothing in my area.
Ashly, how old is your daughter?

Thats awful that there are budget cuts with the school. My daughter is 3 and we really have been working hard with her.She is very scattered when she gets too involved with one thing so having at least one activity a week for her is good. She started out in the help me grow program here in Ohio and then she was referred by doctors for further evaluation.I think the folder idea is great and as long as he doesnt get too frustrated things will get better.Sometimes you have to try different things to see what will work.Do you have any form of suport in your area?

My two oldest are bipolar with ADHD traites. Its tough. Jeffery (12 in 6th grade) is still only at a 3rd grade level in most classes. So I totally feel your pain. Maybe talking to one of your childs teachers about doing tutoring over the summer for a fee. That way he/she knows your little one and knows how to get through to him. Just a thought we did that with Alin last summer and it worked great he is now at 6th grade levels (he is in the 7th grade) Just a thought on the tutoring thing.
