Tue May 29, 2007 4:46 pm   Hey Ya'll from Texas!

Wow! I'm glad I found this. Just from browsing this place seems like a good fit for me.

I am a former pediatric nurse turned WAHM. I have been home full time with my boys for 3 1/2 years and I LOVE it! My sons are Jack age 5 1/2 and Tyler who's almost 4 (next month!). Both were preemies, but Tyler had the hardest time coming at 29 weeks. He's my miracle and my WHY for being a WAHM.

My family survived Hurricane Katrina and we know what's important in life--the things that CAN'T be replaced. After all, you can't take it with you! Many people haven't known someone personally affected by this, so if you want a dose of REALITY, check out my photos of what we went back home to. (NOTHING!) The outside doesn't appear too bad, except for the FOOT deep mud and muck we had to wade through to get to the door. But WAIT til you see what was inside. It will make you thankful for all your blessings. www.picturetrail.com/mcraefamily1

Texas has been AWESOME to us and we now call it home. Everything is BIGGER in Texas for sure! We bought a new home near Lake Conroe and it's so much fun here. People are super friendly and laid back.

I LOVE to cook, eat, laugh and play! And occasionally I do a little work too! LOL!

My most RECENT additction has been BLOGGING!! I'm just getting started and would LOVE to do link exchanges with anyone who's interested. http://bringmomhomenow.blogspot.com

Looking forward to making new friends here! :D

Nice to meet you Edie! Welcome.

Wow, those pictures of your home trashed by Katrina made me feel sick! So sorry for what you went through but you are obviously a strong person. I'm glad you ended up in Texas. I was born and raised there and though I moved away a long time ago, I am still a proud Texan. If you've been there long enough you know how crazy we Texans are!

Good luck!

Hi Edie from a neighbor over in Arkansas!

I had the privilege to write about a mom and her four kids who survived the hurricane. The circumstances were so awful but her spirit was so inspiring. Take a look if you have the time. Michelle's Hurricane Katrina story

Glad you found a home in Texas!

Hey Edie, :)

My name is Joelle, and I'm another Texan here. I live in West Texas. I believe you're in S/SE Texas, right?! Anyway, it's a pleasure to meet you.

I'm really sorry for ya'lls loss; the pictures made me sad. I know that had to be so hard; I believe the Lord has great things in store for you and your family, though!! You know, it brings something else to mind, too... I sometimes feel sad because I live in a small house and keep waiting to add on, but seeing your pictures reminds me that there's always someone worse off than you and stop having the pity party! Of course, not that ya'll are "worse off" anymore; it's sounds like with you're business, you're moving along quite well! I hope you find being here in Texas full of many blessings for you and your family!!!! :D

If I may, I don't know if this is something that could help you and your family or not, but maybe you even know people that it could help. I work with a company that offers discount dental and health benefits. The great thing, though;(and I've been trying to figure out how to go about this) is that our household plans cover "anyone living under the same roof". So, they don't have to be related. I thought that this could be ideal for people affected one way or another, either by families all over who are letting people stay with them or people who had to leave and are just starting over. The plans cover up to 20 people in a household, so it could be multiple families, and it's affordable. Please let me know what you think.

I look forward to talking with you more.

May God and Jesus Bless You Always,
Joelle Niedecken
