Sorry, I am a day late but here is your question for the week.

If you were going to write a book, what would it be about? Mystery, recipes, kids books, or what?

That book would take a long time to write wouldn't it? You would always be adding to it if it was a personal thing. Just geneaology is time consuming but it would make for a very interesting book.

it's so much fun, combining families and their histories where they came from, country and what there lives may have been like. It's interesting.

Yes, I think I mentioned to you before about my cousin doing a family history. Well he is doing it in book form and right now it has a couple thousand pages. He hands them out in volumes and I have volume 1 so far. He said he is hoping to have the second one done this summer. At the rate he is going, we may never see it finished. He is a perfectionist and will not put anything in until its been documented or proven. If he ever does get it done, its going to be well worth the read.

He has offered to help me with my father in law's history but I think I will wait until he has this one done first. :)

It is a very interesting project to undertake and I can't wait to get going. I have done a little but have tons to do yet.

I have 5-7 notebooks full of information in my family tree. My goodness- I don't think I'd ever want to put it into book, maybe on a disc or 2 would be okay. In Book form it makes for some great reading though- that's for sure. My family is German, Irish, Dutch & English. It's never dull or boring that's for sure. :D

Putting all this into book form is very costly. The way my cousin is doing it, he is putting each volume into a hard binder and then gives that to the oldest person in each family, in which case for my family, I am the only one left so it comes to me. He pays for all the printing, copying, research, travelling etc. that he does. Some relatives have been giving donations to him for the work, ink for the printer, travel etc. and two of my cousins are getting together and buying a laser printer for him. Its nice when people pitch in and help out like that along with giving information that they may have. You never know what you will come up with. Then you always get those who want nothing to do with it or don't want a certain thing put in the book or whatever. It makes it difficult because everything should go in but you have to abide by what the person wants.
I can't wait to see this done. If he ever gets it done. He says there will be about 5 volumes by the time its done and so far he has been at it for almost 6 years now.

Wow! That's wonderful Darlene- How priceless that is!! :D To be passed down from generation to generation. That's really cool!! :D My uncle has always been curious about the Minnick side of the family, but never had time to do any research, and the same with my Mom- so for the past 7 yrs. I've been trying to get all of the research together for the family and get copies to them. That way they'll all know the family history and where they came from. I love it when I can find family photos- old family photos, gives you some insight as to what their lives may have been like.
That's always exciting for me. :D

Yes it is priceless for sure. Each family will have to continue on with their own family in the book once its finished. I just hope everyone does. I intend to carry mine on for the grandchildren and even my own kids.
Its amazing some of the photos that have turned up for the family history. Photos I never saw before. Its very interesting.
